“For I know the plans I have for you,” declared the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

This is perhaps the most well-known verse in Jeremiah, but what message can Christians actually take from it? We all go through hardships in life, which can be intense and tumultuous. In this passage, God is making a promise to his people that their prayers will be answered. No matter what difficult situation you may find yourself in, God cares about you and has big plans for you. As long as you seek him out, you will find him. All you need is faith. Even if your situation seems dire and doesn’t make sense to you at this moment, know that it all serves a higher purpose. If you have faith, God will guide you through these tough moments.
Faith and religion have been cornerstones of Sherin Thawer’s life for as long as she can remember. In her own motivational speeches, she draws on her favorite scriptures, including Jeremiah 29:11.
